About Samantha

I try to understand and connect with my students. I like to use exercises that involve their interests and use passion to help them improve their writing. I believe when you are passionate about something, the potential in endless. I also believe it is important to reflect the student's work, anything I ask them to do, I will do as well. All aspects of writing are important and the process should be valued just as much as the final product. Positive encouragement and highlighting the students' strengths is a must throughout my lessons. I also try to push my students and help them grow.

I love being a part of someones growth as an individual. I believe the ability to write and express yourself can help you in all aspects of your life. I also love teaching and seeing improvements in my students. I enjoy showing my students that their potential is limitless and helping them achieve their goals.

I have a B.A in writing. I also have my TESOL certification and have taught over 500 ESL tutoring classes. I also have a lot of experience in writing workshops and helping others with their writing. As someone who has gone through college as a writing major I believe I have knowledge of most genres and can help a student in any part of the writing process.

About the lesson

I develop a connection and create a comfortable environment in my classroom so that my students feel wiling and open to trying hard and putting in effort in our sessions. I believe when walls exist between two people the potential for growth and learning is blocked. I also try to find something that they like or a passion to build on, this way I can connect what I am teaching to their interests, providing motivation for them to want to learn. I like to see how my students learn and what their personalities are like. This allows me to identify what kind of tutoring session will be most effective. I also like to know my students previous exposure to the topic so I can understand where they are and can work from an honest starting point.
