About Brenna

Hi, I'm Brenna! I'm an energetic and empathetic tutor with several years of online tutoring experience. I graduated from University of California, Irvine with a B.A. in Psychology and California State University, Fullerton with a M.A. in Psychology. I have been tutoring for the past 3 years and taught students from third grade through college in a variety of topics including SAT/ACT test prep, SAT subject tests, academics, and college essays and applications, all with a very high success rate.

Before tutoring I worked for a number of years in the corporate world, but found that I didn't feel like I was making a big impact with my work like I would hope to. So a few years ago I decided to jump into tutoring and have loved it ever since. I realized my love of learning stemmed from those teachers and professors who were passionate about both the topics they teach and instilling a love of learning in their students. I take this same approach with my students, I want you to feel like you can accomplish anything!

In my elementary school years, I was that student who found math very difficult myself until college, and I know exactly what it feels like to be struggling in class but afraid to ask for help. Now as a tutor, I have relearned each of the topics I tutor in math and have been able to raise students grades from Cs or near failing, to high Bs and As. And as a former math struggler I am also able to understand why a topic might be complicated for a student and focus on breaking down topics into smaller pieces to find where the root of the confusion stems from and fix it.

My first meeting with a student will always include discussing their academic/test prep goals and working with the families to craft long-term plans to achieve these goals. To make sure we keep our scheduling consistent I do ask that we keep our meeting times as regular as possible and I have a 36 hour cancellation policy.

If you are looking for a tutor who offers not just academic and test prep aid, but the support and guidance of someone who truly wants you to succeed as a student, look no further. I want this to be a time you look forward to and no question is too silly to ask. I am always open to using any and all resources that will best help a student and will work with parents to make sure their child has what they need.
