About Chanaya
I love to see the light bulb on people's heads when they understand something. I love to make powerpoints as well. I talk less than some of your educators. I try to give a more hands on approach and if you have questions ask them! I try to make my service eduacting and relaxing. Nothing is more stressful than going from class to class not understanding them. I am majoring in education, and one thing I don't want is a boring class.
I love to see the progress that the student makes over time. I believe there's that one person that makes learning fun and I hope I can do that for you! One time, I was tutoring a third grader and she struggled with long division. I realized she was waiting for me to keep talking and I told her it was her turn to try it and she got nervous. I also realized teachers don't give enough time for the student to try something on their own. That's one thing I promise to implement. More of you working through it and answering any questions.
I am a secondary education major. I am currently in my sophomore year. I have been tutoring for 4 years. I started when I was a junior in high school.

Before we get started I usually let the student Khan Academy so I can gage where they are. The after that I make a powerpoint with review information just to get into the process. Then we go over unfamiliar materials. At this point, it will be mostly the student to talking. I find it's better that if the student can teach it to someone it makes the material easier to go over. I go over any questions that need to be answered or any homework help.
I typically work with students who are in elementary school and middle school. I have worked with a few high schoolers.
Be patient. Teachers/ tutors are having a hard time adjusting and a compliment on their lesson plan or anything is really helpful.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Have they ever taught that subject before or are they familiar with it? I believe you can't teach something to some if they themselves are not able to come up with a way to teach.

She helped me a bunch! I sat next to her in spanish class and when she saw I was struggling keeping up she offered to tutor me. Every day at 3pm we would study in the library. At first I hated someone always telling me what to do l but, she really understood what it felt to be frustrated. She never gives up on you.
