About Lexi
I started tutoring and being a Teaching Assistant in college. I now work as a Teaching Assistant fro graduate students and want to get back into tutoring.
I have worked as a tutor and Teaching Assistant for many years. I am an advanced PhD student, and have lead many lectures, group study sessions, and one-on-one sessions in math, chemistry, biology, and writing. I enjoy teaching and plan to continue in academia as a Biology professor.

First, I like to get to know the student, we'll talk about interests and hobbies to try to find a common connection so we can start building a rapport. From my experience, instilling confidence in a student is the first step to success. Second, I like to discuss how the student feels about the material they are seeking help with. We'll determine if there are feelings of frustration, confusion, being overwhelmed, etc... that need to be addressed before we can begin to work through material. Third, we will talk about what strategies the student (possibly with parents) has tried in the past with the subject. We will identify what worked and what didn't work. From there, we can set goals and start planning new ways to achieve those goals.
I have worked with students of all ages; ranging from 8 to mid-30s.
The best tutor for you will be someone you want to have a conversatoin with. Being able to communicate with your tutor is extremely important!
