About Laura
Hello potential tutees. I am an education professional with over 10 years of experience teaching elementary and high school students in the Los Angeles County (Options for Youth Charter School- 7 years, Ynez Elementary School - 3 years).
My instructional focus has been on:
*Reading and Writing, Grades K-12- Common Core, using differentiated strategies and learning tools for English Only and English learners.
*Math - Common Core K-8
I have extensive training and experience working one-on-one with students in the classroom setting. Most of my teaching history has been with students who are struggling in the classroom or just need that extra support to meet their academic goals.
Credentials:
*Elementary Teacher- Multiple Subjects
*Bachelors in English Literature- Scripps College
I enjoy helping students overcome personal obstacles in an academic area and gain confidence in themselves.

I do a quick introduction of myself with a simple ice breaker game. I may take a look at their past work and assignments, progress reports from teachers, report cards, review their grades and do a short oral interview about where the student/parent wants to focus on. I will try to establish a routine with them depending on what their tutoring needs are (checking their agendas, homework, test prep).
