About Danny

Hi Everyone! My name is Danny, and I'm a sophomore at Yale University studying political science and economics. At Yale, I'm involved in student government, greek life, and community outreach, so feel free to ask me anything about that! I also teach English to 5 refugees in the New Haven area, and I've tutored students throughout high school in a variety of subjects including AP subjects, the ACT, algebra, calculus, history, and more. I have 3 years experience tutoring from ages as young as 5 to as old as new parents seeking to learn English.

I have a younger brother who I often helped when he was in elementary and middle school, and my approach to tutoring mirrors the approach I took with my brother: with patience and armed with the knowledge that learning requires an in-depth understanding of the material. I go about this in three steps: I first hope to fill in any knowledge gaps the student may have and explain any difficult concepts; then have the practice the material, and finally have the student explain the concepts back to me. I also love to use simple analogies to explain difficult concepts or ideas. I also seek to adjust my teaching style based on the student's learning style.

In high school, I also worked with my school district's Center for Family's and Children, where I was able to connect underserved families to resources throughout the community. I graduated the valedictorian of my high school and received several academic honors including AP scholar, PSAT commended scholar, and was recognized several times by the school board.
