About Megan

I'm a very dynamic teacher. I love the use of games and out-of-the-box thinking to cement lessons in my students' minds and help them apply their new skills effectively.

I also only use rewarding language. In my world, there are no mistakes, only opportunities.

I love helping others succeed. Watching the light of understanding turn on in another's face when they *get it* is my absolute favorite thing.

I have a B.A. in English Literature, and I taught at Lindamood Bell Learning Processes as a reading comprehension clinician.

In the professional realm, I've created style guides for my colleagues, edited and proofed materials to aid better communication, and provided general advice and instruction to help my colleagues become better writers and communicators.

I love teaching and I'm eager to return to the world of helping others.

About the lesson

Typically, a new student and I will discuss what their goals are for working with me. For students under 18, parents will be included in the conversation. This helps me gain clarity for the next steps.

Once we've established overall goals, we'll set smaller, short-term goals to help measure the student's progress. For instance, getting a higher grade on the student's next quiz or achieving a smoother reading cadence.

We can, of course, always step back and adjust goals and methods to better meet the student's needs.

I've worked with students from the ages of 5 to 21, across the full spectrum of ability.

Some of my past students simply needed scaffolding to catch up with their peers, while others had learning disabilities or ASD and required someone to meet them where they were to learn effectively.

I am happy to work with adult learners over the age of 21, as well.

Look for someone with a dynamic teaching technique who is flexible enough to meet you where you are in your learning journey.

A great teacher knows how to analyze what a student can currently do and plan lessons for progress based on that student.

My rates* are as follows:

1 person: $50 per hour

2 or 3 people: $75 per hour

4 or more people: $100 per hour (no more than 6 people)

*Rates may be negotiated
