About Ashleigh

I am currently entering my final semester in college. I am attending my university to become a history teacher. Therefore, I write and read a lot! This means I am a great editor and will put in as much time to review and revise essays along with helping create written work if necessary.

I enjoy helping others! I have experienced working as a volunteer with students as young as four and as old as eighteen. Each student is unique in their own way and I like watching students grow in their learning. It is amazing to see them grow.

This would actually be my first time teaching. However, I am earning my bachelor's degree in history to teach and I feel like this would help me gain some experience before begin.

I am a student teacher this last semester at my university and right now I am placed at a high school. I teach them history lessons. I also used to help revise and edit my peer's essays and in high school I was a tutor for history.

About the lesson

My typical process while working with a new student is to enthusiastically ask for their name and what they are working on, to make them feel comfortable. I will do my best to ask about their interests and see if I can relate that to the subject they need tutoring in. My main goal while working with a new student is to make sure they are comfortable and understand they are capable of completing their task.

I have worked with different kinds of students. From volunteering with elementary kids to working with high schoolers now. They are all unique in their own way and there are approaches to take with each student.

I would tell this student to look for a teacher that will take the time to understand what you need. I would say this instead of experience because sometimes experience does not mean a teacher will listen and take the time to understand your needs.

I am fond of climate change and the environmental factors that are happening because of it. For example, summers are getting warmer and there is so much plastic in the oceans. It is crazy how much trash is in the ocean, but it is also awesome how there are companies selling bracelets to fund cleaning the ocean. I think it is important that everyone stays up to date on climate change and the impacts it has on the environment.
