About Louisa

A little about myself: I'm a recent graduate from Temple University! My major wasn't English, but it was communication, which is very, very writing-heavy. During my time in college I received high commendation on papers ranging from research to rhetoric to persuasive in nature. I am currently a content writer for a beauty brand!

I've excelled at writing since I was very young, and as I've gotten older and taken more advanced classes, I've been able to hone my writing skills and make them teachable. I think everyone has the potential to be a good writer with the right practice and guidance, and I'm willing to invest the time and energy to see it happen!

My specialties in teaching/advising are in research papers, copywriting, PR writing, and persuasive writing, but I can edit any paper, including fiction and those written in APA style. Apart from writing, I also offer help in English—primarily grammar and studying literature.

When it comes to writing, my teaching style differs from client to client, based on need and interest. I'm equally capable of both teaching someone how to write or bettering someone's already existing ability to write, just as I am of simply proofreading if that's what a client desires. Some clients just want me to edit a paper of theirs, and some need guidance to start writing a paper. If hands-on learning is what they need, I am prepared to create my own assignments if non-school practice is what they need.

I think the written word is a beautiful, fascinating thing, and so complex. It's genuinely fun for me to create and advise. It's so cheesy but that's what I really think! Reading and writing has always had a huge presence in my life—at the age of 9, I would read two Nancy Drew books in a day. Eventually, I'm going to put my reading and writing abilities to the ultimate test once I graduate with a master's degree and move on to a Ph.D.

My degree in communication required 4 writing-intensive classes (rhetoric, research, communication and history), 3 advanced writing classes (research, communication, and persuasion), and a course in grammar. I am the go-to proofreader and editor for classmates, friends, and even family members. I have advised on and proofread eight common app essays (that were not mine), where ultimately the student was admitted. I also applied to nine schools personally and was admitted to all (These included: Marist, American U, GWU, Temple U, and Ithaca College)

About the lesson

I would suggest that you find a teacher who is passionate and enjoys what they teach! Writing and editing is hard work, but when it's enriching you never get tired of it, you'll always get 100% of their focus and results.

Details

If we're having a session, that includes teaching, advising, and consulting, my rate is $50/hour. However, if you just want me to proofread and edit a paper or project without a specific advising appointment (my editing does come with detailed and intensive advice, suggestions, and even alternative sentences/words) I charge $35 per assignment.
