About Jordan
I incorporate elements of overall academic improvement and academic coaching. I went to school for English and earned a B.A. in creative & professional writing. I've worked in higher education for over 2 years focusing on improving study skills and time management for students. Whatever your goal is, we can talk about how to realistically achieve it. There's no goal too big or too small to start working on.
I enjoy being able to work with the tools students already have but don't know it. There's so many people that doubt themselves or lack the intrinsic motivation to perform well. It's great to see them realize how much agency they have in their education.

I like to work under the GROW model when working with students. We talk about your Goal for today's session and what my role will be in assisting. We examine the Reality of the situation, looking at your specific grade level, past experience, and assignment requests. We then look at the Options for what resources and exercises would be available to help. Finally, we talk about What you will actually do to reach your goal.
I've worked mainly with students in a college setting, including some dual credit high school. This would translate to a high school demographic as well.
I would advise focusing on yourself and your learning style. It doesn't matter as much who you work with, it's more important that you're taking that necessary step to push yourself beyond what you've been doing before. Choose someone that seems like a good fit, and make it work for what your goals are.
