About Erica

I am a fourth grade teacher with a masters degree in Elementary Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. I have teaching experience in 1st through 5th grades, and am a test prep tutor for elementary through middle school.

Having worked in New York City Public Schools, I am well versed in curriculum development, grade level expectations, and test prep requirements. I make learning accessible and fun, for students of all ages and all educational backgrounds, from IEPs to enrichment needs.

I am certified to teach grades 1-6, all subject areas, and am a highly ranked teacher, with proven records for increasing literacy and math skills, and improving state test scores.

I have been teaching full time for the last four years, and have been tutoring for the last 6 years.

I am a certified teacher with the New York City Public School system, grades 1-6, and have a masters degree in Elementary Inclusive Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. I have curriculum and test prep materials and have received countless professional development across all subjects and in test prep strategies.

About the lesson

Prior to beginning tutoring lessons, I meet with the parent(s) or guardian(s) to set goals and expectations together for the students. I ask to see work samples of the student's typical work, so I have an insight into how the student approaches tasks and challenges. From there, I invite the student to join in the conversation and talk about their own goals and perceptions. This helps me know the student's strengths and areas for improvement.

I have experience working with students who have IEPs, and students who need extra challenge and enrichment in both the classroom and individualized tutoring settings. I am currently a fourth grade teacher, and am very familiar with the rigorious testing in ELA, math, and science content that my students take every year.
