I start by getting to know the student a little bit. I like to learn about what kind of things he/she is interested in, goals for the future, non-academic activities, etc.
I then address any classes the student is struggling with in school. Whether that may be math, science, english, etc. I then evaluate where my student is at regarding their level of understanding the material; and go from there! :)
