About Rowan

I've always been connected with english since elementary school. It was and has been my favorite subject, so much so that I'm currently majoring in English in college. I think that by using fun and easy methods to teach english, anyone and everyone can gain an appreciation for it. So through my tutoring services, I hope to help show that writing and learning English can be more than just another boring subject in school. I have graduated from high school after taking AP Language and Composition, AP Literature, and taking WRT 101-102 college courses in my senior year. I am now a college freshman majoring in English. I have worked with kids and peers my age throughout high school, and I am confident in my abilities to produce good work, and teach others to produce the same quality. Please keep in mind that I am still a college freshman, but I will do my absolute best to assist anyone who needs help with this subject. While English is my strongest category, I can also help with subjects like math, chemistry, and physics.

I genuinely love getting people interested in and excited about English. I think that school is so much more fun when you actually enjoy and understand the topics you are being taught. Seeing someone happy about improving in something gives me such a good feeling and I hope to help people achieve this excitement.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, I'll first try to assess the struggle areas, ask what issues they feel they have and what issues they want to work on, then ask to see some past and current work and find out myself what some areas could use work and improvement, and what areas are strong, and then go from there. Connecting with a new student is important to me, because I want to create a comfortable environment where the student isn't afraid to ask for help or for comments, and can enjoy themselves during tutoring.

Details

I determine price based on location and frequency of sessions, so that I can pick an amount that works best for both of us. Generally, I'll start at $25/hr, but this can change based on where you are, if you want online or in person sessions, the level of assistance you need, etc.
