About Jennifer
I've always loved learning and am very passionate and committed to doing what I can to help others in their studies-- not just for the sake of better grades, but much more important, to become life long learners as well. I have a Masters degree in Medieval Jewish History from Yeshiva University where I am currently pursuing a doctorate in the same field. I have also studied Rabbinic literature and Bible in their original Hebrew and Aramaic. I have excellent Hebrew reading and writing skills and good speaking skills. I also have reading knowledge of French. I am also a professional violinist and trained Suzuki violin teacher, and I've had a Suzuki violin studio since 2003. I have also taught religious and Jewish studies at the Jewish Community High School of the Bay, where I also gained experience teaching kids with learning challenges. I am seeking to tutor anyone, regardless of age or level of ability, in literature, religious studies, Jewish studies, Jewish history, reading comprehension, writing, world history, history of religion, violin playing, piano playing.
I fill with so much pride when my students grow and develop and build on their accomplishments, be it playing the violin well or read better or understand better, or even better if they come to like a subject after having studied it with me.
I am a registered trained Suzuki violin teacher, and I've taught religious studies and have tutored high school kids and adults in Hebrew and Jewish studies. The Suzuki method believes anyone can learn, and that it is always possible to break a complex skill or idea into smaller subsets of skills or ideas, so that anyone can latch onto the learning process. It is also crucial to lay a firm foundation of good skills, whatever field they may be in. I have applied the Suzuki approach to teaching Rabbinic and Biblical literature as well as music, with wonderful results.

I would first introduce myself and ask them how their day is going-- I always want my students to feel comfortable and safe with me, and that I care about them as a person. I would then want them to show me what they're working on so far and I would sit back and have them read, show me their writing, listen to them play, whatever the situation is, and take notes on what is going well and what needs improvement. Then I would begin with positive feedback, because there's always something positive to say about someone's accomplishment. Then I would discuss with them what I think needs work and set about a steady methodical process by which they can improve.

I charge a fixed hourly rate of $80/hr for whatever subject I teach, since I have ample experience in all fields I listed. I have students come to me, and I get paid weekly.
