About Darleen
Hi! I'm a self-directed English student looking to help children navigate online learning - specifically for Language Arts and English courses.
I'm about to graadute with my Assocaite's degree in English this fall! I love all things words adn have been an avid reader since a young age.
In high school, I took advanced English courses and passed the AP Language adn Composition test.
I'm no formal teacher yet, but it is what I want to do in life! Previously I've worked with children in settings that don't involve school work, like at daycares and even as a swim instructor.
I've been formally studying English for two years, and will be graduating with an Associate's in English soon.

Working with a new student, it's important to gauge where the student is at with the subject, and more importantly how they learn. Once I get a stronger sense of what kind of student they are, we start tackling issues where it's needed most.
I have worked with all kinds of students, from 6 months to 13 years of age! I'm grateful I have had the opprotunity to work with children that are special needs, as well.
When I was a swim teacher, every child had a different learnning style. One of my kids had a really ahrd time getting down a butterfly stroke...to the point where I had to perform a full on demonstration. Seeing the excitment on her face when it finally clicked made it all worth it.

I do an hourly rate, because that tends to work best for one-on-one work. I start at $13 an hour.
