About Lauren
I have about three years of professional tutoring experience in English. I have a BA in English and am 4 credits shy away from an MA in English at DePaul University. I have experience helping students from as young as 9 with reading and writing homework to tutoring college-level literature, creative writing, and rhetoric courses. I also spent a semester as a TA for an undergraduate composition course with a focus on rhetoric.
I also provide proofreading services, but I do not consider proofreading tutoring! I walk my students through any mistakes, what went wrong, and then discuss how to fix it.

I approach every student as an individual. My experience has taught me that everyone begins writing, reading, or analysis with at least some amount of "baggage." I listen to my students and learn what frustrates or excites them, and then use that knowledge to get them engaged in whatever the assignment or project is at hand. Once someone is excited about something, conversations about grammar and punctuation suddenly seem more palatable. It's crazy!
