About Elizabeth

I offer private online English tutoring and editing services. I am an avid reader and writer with experience tutoring middle school, high school, and college level English students. I have also worked as a substitute teacher in both private and public school classrooms and taught English and Public Speaking for homeschool students. I have a Bachelors in Social Work from Florida State University and also enjoy creative writing as a hobby. I am excited to help you polish your papers, enhance your essay writing skills, and excell in your English classes. I hope that along the way, you will grow in your love of the English language!

I love writing, I love editing, and I love meeting new people! All of these come together in a wonderful way with teaching and tutoring. I have the privilege of helping you gain new knowledge and skills while also getting to know about you and your passions, hopes, and dreams!

I worked as the director of a K-12th grade tutoring center for a year, after which I continued to volunteer as the lead in the middle/high school department. I enjoyed assisting students with their class assignments and accepted a position teaching homeschool students in a classroom setting once a week. After this, I pursued substitute teaching for a year before returning to school myself. Now, I enjoy teaching weekly ESL lessons in a university setting.

My formal education is a Bachelors in Social Work from Florida State University which required frequent writing assignments. I have experience with both MLA and APA format for college papers. Following graduation, I spent a year directing an after-school tutoring program for K-12th grade students, after which I volunteered as the lead in the middle/high school department. I have also worked as a substitute teacher in both private and public school classrooms and taught English, Public Speaking, and Theater to homeschool students. I have written a High School World Literature curriculum for SchoolhouseTeachers.com and published a study guide for Nathaniel Hawthorne's novel, "The Scarlet Letter." In my free time, I am an independent filmmaker and enjoy writing screenplays and poetry. More recently, I began teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) to college students.

About the lesson

I offer online tutoring services using google hangout. Typically, I would discuss your needs via phone or email, and we will set up a tutoring time which works with your schedule. I will cater to your needs whether that is working on an assignment, editing a paper, or just getting some questions answered. If you need a paper edited, I ask that you email it to me prior to the session so that I am better prepared to assist you. At the end of your first session, I will email you a brief questionnaire asking for your feedback, at which time we can set up additional sessions as desired.

I have worked with middle, high school, and college level students. The majority of my experience is with middle/high school students, and I also regularly conduct youth theater and film programming for teenagers. However, I have recently begun teaching ESL to university students.
