About Taylor

I enjoy tutoring and love to see student improvement. I completed my bachelors degree in chemistry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2015 with minors in both Biology and Spanish. While attending university I taught hundreds of students through serving as a Supplemental Instruction Leader for an introductory chemistry course and a personal tutor for STEM-H. In addition to my extensive experience with learning and teaching math and science, I also tutored student athletes in English I and II.

Tutoring is a rewarding experience for both the student and teacher. I enjoy teaching a variety of subjects and working with each individual student to meet their needs. Although the majority of my previous tutoring experience has been at a college level, I feel confident I can quickly adapt to work well with elementary, middle, and high school students. In given the opportunity, my hope is that together we can achieve great academic improvement.

I began tutoring in 2012 following my freshman year in college. I enjoyed attending additional academic sessions for my introductory chemistry course which were lead by a student who had completed the course and done well. Once I heard the position would be available, I was determined to have the job!

I have tutored hundreds of students through three different academic programs at the university level. I consider myself a life long learner. Currently, I am pursuing my doctorate and have been in formal education for many years. Along the way I have had many wonderful people help me achieve my academic goals. I would love to share my knowledge with others as well.

About the lesson

I like to start with a brief 10-15 minute introduction to establish what academic goals the student has and how I can best serve them. Following our introduction, we can begin to work together through the material that is most difficult to the student. I am happy do work through and explain example problems or sentences that incorporate the lesson objectives.

I have worked with students ages 17-25. However, I enjoy teaching students of all ages as well. Through the chemistry department, I assisted at a science fair for elementary aged students and always enjoyed that experience.

Details

For individual tutoring sessions, I charge $15 an hour. If there is more than one student, we can discuss pricing on an individual basis.
