About Sudha

I am passionate about helping each individual student learn and understand according to their natural learning style. I strive to make learning fun and memorable. As a former homeschool mother, I have years of experience working with students over a wide age-range.

I enjoy getting to know what makes my students tick and helping each of them tap into their intrinsic motivation to set and achieve their goals. I also enjoy applying creative approaches to keep students interested and engaged.

I began teaching in my senior year of college through an independent study which allowed me to teach an introductory undergraduate course in American Studies. I continued teaching as a software developer by writing end-user manuals and training small groups of end-users on the software we created. After transitioning to being a work-at-home-mom, I also homeschooled my sons for four years.

I have an eclectic mix of education, life experience, and work experience that make me an intuitive and empathic tutor. I have a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies, over a decade of experience as a software developer, and 18 years experience as a parent. I have written technical and end-user manuals, website content, the foreword for a book on alternative medicine. I have edited resumes, marketing materials for small businesses, and essays for college applications. I have also helped students prepare for spelling and vocabulary bees.

About the lesson

My typical process involves a preliminary discussion with the student, and their parent(s) if appropriate, to determine the specific needs of the student. This conversation is typically a half-hour to one-hour commitment and takes place via a Zoom meeting or a phone call. During the meeting, I will ask questions and interact with the student to understand their learning style. Based on the student's goals, we will decide on the frequency and number of sessions to meet those goals. I will create an individualized tutoring plan, and we will follow that, making adjustments as we progress from session to session.
