About Clare

English and writing are my two specialities. Like some people who have a "math" brain, I often joke that I have an "english" brian. I can spot improper grammar the second I hear or read it, and writing essays is my favorite way to "show my work."

I tutored mulitple classmates during my freshman year of college. Many students today enter college without the proper skillset to conduct a proper MLA essay. This is not the fault of the child, but it is an important skill to have. I firmly believe that once students know how to properly write an essay, the rest of their schooling gets significantly easier. This is what I strive to teach my students during my sessions. I want them to obtain a skillset, and not just an "A."

I am a certified Water Safety Instructor for the American Red Cross and teach swimming lessons to pupils ranging from six months to adulthood. I love helping my students accomplish their goals, and decided I shouldn't limit my lessons to swimming.

I have always had a strong knack for writing. I completed the graduation requirements for English my sophomore year of high school but continued in creative writing courses my junior and senior year. I was an English tutor in college, and was assisting pupils further along in their studies than I was. I studied arts and sciences, and now work as a scriptwriter.

About the lesson

First, I establish and confirm the objective with my student and their parents. Then I develop a lesson plan. In order to do this I get to know my student, figuring out their interests, as well as the subjects they like and dislike. Once I get an idea of these things, I find ways to incorporate them into our lessons.
