About Kelsey

My service stands out because I have 5 years of experience managing a classroom full of 2nd graders to progress academically and personally. I am confident that my background knowledge and experience in education will help us achieve your child's personal goals together.

I love getting to know each student's unique personality, strengths, and areas for growth. I really enjoy the relationship building that goes into teaching and the best part of teaching is when you get to see a student's eyes light up when they are finally understanding a challenging concept for the first time!

I was a 2nd grade teacher for 5 years - 3 years at Chicago Publics Schools and 2 years at The Columbus School, an International School in Medellín, Colombia.

About the lesson

Usually as I begin working with a new student, I first do some get-to-know-you activities together so we break the ice and we can learn about each other's likes and dislikes and personalities so the student feels more comfortable. Then, we will review grade-level subject matter and go up or down on difficulty to figure out where they currently stand, using the Common Core State Standards as measure.
