About Emily

I am an extremely passionate ELA teacher who LOVES reading and writing. I believe that my passion for the subject areas is clear to see and greatly helps me in the process of teaching others. My biggest goal as a teacher is to help children understand the importance of learning, reading, and writing. With this understanding, the necessary skills to succeed flow freely!

I am certified in Secondary English Education (Grades 6-12), but I have worked closely with grades K-5 as well in a previous role as a Technology Integration Educator.

In addition to my professional teaching roles, I have previously served as a nanny and caregiver for children ages 8mo. to 12 years.

I truly believe that being a teacher is the most wonderful and enriching job in the world. To have the opportunity to help a child grow and learn both academically and personally is beyond special and meaningful for me. Over the years, I have been able to make countless connections with my students and I plan to know them for years to come! I work hard to create lifelong learners AND friends in my students. I really do pride myself on my empathetic abilities with children, adolescents, and high school aged students alike!

I have been an ELA teacher for the last 4 years. I taught 5th Grade Writing for a year, 8th Grade Literature for a year, and 6th Grade Reading and Writing for the last two years! Before that, I worked a 4 month internship in an 11th and 12th Grade English classroom teaching AP Literature, 10th Grade English, and Journalism.

About the lesson

I love getting to know and making strong personal connections with my students right away! The most meaningful learning experiences come from a meaningful relationship between a teacher and a student. :)
