About Ashley

Helping other is my passion and I try to help others in as many ways as I can, like tutoring. Growing up I struggled in school and was helped by many tutors, and they were a big reason why I am where I am today. So if I want to give to others what I have received for so long, with the same passion, dedication and patience that was given to me. I have tutored for 2 years, I have tutored for a couple charter schools close to my university as well as an online tutoring company called Learning Lodge. I understand how gravely important it is to have extra help during the pandemic and would love to be a resource for anyone that needs it.

I love getting to work one on one with each student. I really enjoy getting to know each on of them and their interests, skills, and where they tend to struggle. From my experience, I have realized the more you get to know each other the better you work with each other. I also love seeing that I have made an impact on the student, whether they get a problem right that they were struggling with or something much bigger.

I started teaching my senior year of high school as a volunteer, and I have continued to tutor through my sophmore year of college.

I am a college sophmore at Saint Louis University. I am a nursing major. I have tutored for about 2 years at a couple charter schools in the St. Louis area and most recently for the online company Learning Lodge. I have no formal training in education, but I am a student currently who understands the struggles of school and very recent experience in the material these students are learning.

About the lesson

I usually like to get to know my student a little bit. I then like to ask them what specifically they are struggling with or where they would like to improve. Then I will come up with a lesson plan each week depending on what each student needs.

I have worked with many types of students, mostly elementary. I have worked with both boys and girls as well as bilingual students. I have some experience with junior high and high school, but I would like to tutor junior high and high school students even more.

This weekend, my best friends and I went to the arch. We prepared snacks, played some music, and layed on blankets. It was so relaxing, and an opportunity for some serenity and calm during my hectic school schedule, the pandemic, and the recent election.
