About Brittney
I am a former elementary school teacher. I have my Master's degree in Special Education and my PhD in Curriculum & Instruction. I currently work for a large university, teaching teachers how to effectively teach reading. I love working one-on-one with students and seeing the growth they make as a result of individualized instruction and hard work.

The first time I work with a student, I always want to assess their current level to determine next steps. I use a data-drive approach which we call the Three Step Cycle in reading education. Assess--->Plan--->Implement (and then repeat!).
I have worked with students from a variety of backgrounds, from the students in my K-2 Title I schools to the students I have had the opportunity to support 1 on 1. I have worked with children who are gifted, children who need some extra support, and everything in between, including children with learning disabilities and autism.
I would check their credentials relevant to what you are studying. I am great with elementary school math, for instance, but would not be the best resource for math beyond that level. Likewise, I am skilled at teaching students to read but a high school calculus teacher would likely not be as skilled at this. I am always honest with my clients about my skill level and their needs.
