About Paul
I focus on helping students who have difficulty learning, students who have not experienced success in school. I believe every student can learn and use different approaches to help them to learn.
I began teaching in church children's programs. Then, after my schooling, I taught conferences and seminars on teaching techniques and began teaching at the College of DuPage.
I earned the doctor of education degree (Ed.D.) at Northern Illinois University and a masters degree in Special Education at National Louis University. I taught and tutored at the College of DuPage for 10 years and have taught students with special needs for the last four needs. My students always achieve success.

The main thing is to get to know the student. To determine his or her goals and then quickly assess the student's present levels to determine his or her needs. Then I determine the best way to help the student make progress toward his or her goals. Once certain needs have been met, I move to other needs. If my approach is not working, I change it to another approach. The student is never at fault, my approach to teaching needs to change.
I have worked with two groups of students, entry-level college students and students with specific learning needs.
Look for a tutor with experience in your specific area of need. Ask about how they approach tutoring, what you can hope to accomplish, and how they would help you accomplish your goals.
Last year I had several students who who had experienced very little success in their schooling. In fact, the school insisted that they be transferred to a special school. Not only did they experience progress last year, they increased 1-2 grade levels in their academic progress.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
