About Matthew

I have a Masters degree from a reputable university and more than 5 years of experience tutoring students in a variety of subjects.

I pride myself in taking time with each student to identify unique learning styles and strategies. I have tutored students ranging from preschoolers to adults in continuing education programs.

I began tutoring students during my freshman year of college at California State University, Chico. Today, I continue to teach adults in my fulltime professional position.

I completed my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies at California State University, Chico. Additionally, I recently graduated with my Master of Business Administration Degree from Louisiana State University. Each of these academic programs provided me with a broad comprehension of numerous academic subjects. In particular, I excel at English and Mathematics.

About the lesson

I take time with each student to identify individual learning styles. I subsequently use this information to develop appropriate learning objectives and strategies.

I have tutored a broad group of individuals ranging from preschool students to adult learners.

I would advise that students take their time to find who matches their unique learning style and personality.

This year I had the great honor of assisting a 2nd grade student whom was struggling with subtraction. After several sessions, the student developed a keen ability to perform large subtraction problems with ease. He recently reported that he is now one of the top math students in his class. I believe the confidence he obtained from our tutoring sessions may propel him to perform at a higher level throughout his elementary education.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
It is important that students take time to reflect on their specific needs prior to speaking with a teacher. Often times, students approach teachers for assistance before they have truly attempted to learn a subject on their own. This often results in a subpar learning experience for both the teacher and the student.
