About Claire
I graduated from Appalachian State University in the beautiful mountain town of Boone, NC. App State prides itself for its education program, and I am proud to be a graduate of this institution.
I have been a middle school English teacher for 6 years, and I love to see that lightbulb go off! I live to help students see success with reading and writing through one-on-one assistance. Truly diving into strengths and weaknesses will allow us to develop your natural reading and writing skills and grow your confidence in the skills you already have!
I will help in whatever way I can, whether that be essay revising and editing, homework help, grammar, test prep, etc.
I enjoy helping students learn to love English (ELA) or at least how to conquer it!

Typically, I will try to get to know the student and their likes and dislikes. I want to know what they don't like about English or "ELA" and how I can help them.
I have worked with late elementary to 8th grade students with different levels of proficiency in English Language Arts and with different learning disabilities such as ADD and dyslexia.
The advice I would give students looking to hire an English tutor would be to find someone who you mesh well with and that you feel will help you the most!
