In meeting and beginning to work with a new student, I would first like to learn about what specifics they are struggling with. I want to know how they learn best so that I can help them learn in that way.

The majority of the students that I have worked with have been elementary aged and preschool students, but I also have much experience with the material required for older students to know and understand.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They should think through exactly what is troubling them about a subject and ask their teacher about that, instead of asking for general help regarding a subject. That way, their teacher will be better equiped to help them with the specific things they need.
