About Lucia

My service stands out because I value honesty and keeping up with changes in the academic world. Being tutored by another older student is the best way to also learn more about your future options as a student yourself.

I have always recognized the importance of truly understanding and enjoying the work you are doing in school, and my goal is to help other students achieve excellence! I have extensive experience in writing and proofreading papers and creating study plans since I did the International Baccalaureate program in high school, which is world-renowned rigorous coursework. Right now I am completing my Liberal Arts: Humanities and Social Science degree at SUNY SCCC. I have tutored family friends before by helping with organization and homework, and I find it rewarding.

All throughout high school, I had near-perfect to perfect grades in Spanish, including 100s on all of my midterms and a 6/7 on the IB Spanish exam. I also have personal experience with the Spanish language, since I have many family friends who speak the language. I can help with the understanding of vocab, grammar, writing, and reading of the language.

For my extended essay my senior year in high school, I wrote a 15 page English paper, which I spent many hours editing. I also received a 6/7 on the IB English exam. I have experience in the following topics: Media Writing, Literature Writing, Argumentative Essays, Persuasive Essays, and SAT Writing. On my SAT Writing section, I received a 22/24, which is an above-average score.

I would absolutely love to encourage and inspire another student to do their best. I know the ins and outs of being a high school student with an enormous workload, so I believe that based on my experience, I can certainly help in one way or another.

I am currently taking a professional-level certificate course to be a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) teacher, and in this course, I have gained detailed knowledge on modes of teaching, how to connect with students, and how to structure lessons. This knowledge transfers into general tutoring.

I myself am a student who has gone through the ins and outs of advanced placement/college courses, so I am very familiar with the expectations of both high school and college-level academics and how they are currently evolving.

About the lesson

I like to ask the students questions about their current status in the subject they need help with, such as what are their strengths/weaknesses. I also gather as much information as possible on the material they are currently working on so I could help them find new ways to learn it properly.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
My best advice is to either make a list or discuss with a teacher about what you need help with, as well as what you do not need help with. This way, I, or another tutor, can have a more accurate understanding of your skills.
