About Rose

Hi, I'm Rose. I graduated summa cum laude in May 2018 with a Bachelor's degree in English (and a minor in Writing) from Ithaca College.

A mediocre tutor acts as a crutch for a student. A great tutor is always working to make their job unnecessary through helping their students expand their own ability to help themselves. I promise that you (or your student) will walk away from our session not only with their goals for their specific assignment met, but with a broader and more comprehensive understanding of themselves and strengthened writing, reading and text comprehension skills.

Simply put: I build better readers and better writers.

While I was an undergraduate, I tutored for three years in the Writing Center, eventually being promoted to Head Tutor in my senior year. This was the best job for me because I care deeply about teaching and promoting writing skills to people of all ages. I am on the path to graduate school in English, and my goal is to become a professor.

Not only do I have a ton of tutoring experience, but I have experience training other tutors on how to tutor properly and effectively. My knowledge of tutoring pedagogy comes through in my lesson plans and methods: I am adept at learning quickly about a student, their assignment, and their needs so I can craft a solid, step-by-step plan to not only achieve their goals but to learn new skills in the process.

I love tutoring because I know that every student has the potential to grow and change. I love seeing that growth over time, explaining something to students that they never thought they'd understand, and helping students see their positive traits.

What is also helpful is that I love these subjects. My excitement about writing and literature will always come through in my sessions. English is my life's work and passion. If you don't believe me, think about how deep a well of love for a subject one needs to plan to spend six years of their life studying it in a PhD program! I am always ready and excited to help a student expand their skills and learn to love (or at least appreciate!) writing and literature.

English lessons offered by Rose are tailored to each student's needs and level. Lessons can also be held online. Lessons are also available in Atlanta. The first lesson is free to define learning goals and methodology.
