About Tanya
I am very enthusiastic to work with people of all ages and teach them how to tackle a project or just learn simple drawing skills. I can also help you learn painting in acrylics, oils, advanced drawing/ cooking skills. Photoshop, fashion illustrations, figure drawing, digital fashion illustrations, and help with crafts. I can help a student with different approaches that will prove beneficial long term. I have experience with tutoring, and my students have always thoroughly enjoyed my lessons and tailored approach for their learning. I pass on my passion to others.
I am very open to students' questions, and I always encourage the student to explore for their own benefit and growth.
I am good at many different aspects of cooking, including basics and international cuisines. Also, I am great at different cooking techniques, such as using the instant pot, or even making ravioli from scratch!! I can tell you where you can change the recipe for different ideas, too! Don't be afraid to check with me and ask if I can help you make a dish!! I am great with substitutions, going vegan, or choosing healthier ingredients. I have knowledge on a myriad of international cuisines and ingredients.
Both art and cooking are fun!
I am willing to teach online because of Covid.
Making art is a visual medium that can connect with other people, so that really helps to strike a conversation. I love the way I feel in expressing myself - in terms of a storyline, or emotion.
When it comes to cooking, I thoroughly enjoy the daily satisfaction that is derived from putting effort into a enjoyable meal. Sometimes, the ending is more enjoyable because it is unpredictably better than I expected.
I have a Master's in Fine Arts in Studio Art from Houston Baptist University. I have tutored students in the past, and I thoroughly enjoy it. There is a lot that can be achieved by teaching something one -on -one.
I also have a Fashion Merchandising Management degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, and a Bachelor degree in Business from University of Houston.

My typical process for working with a new student is to become familiar with their goals, and what they want to learn in the first meeting. I would also want to know about their existing skillset. If they want to bring examples of works that inspire them, or any ideas that is great too! I am very happy to discuss with the student any special goals, or interests, etc!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
A student should ask as many questions as possible. If the student gains an interest in other mediums along the way, that's great too- they can address with me the different mediums that they want to explore with.

Tanya was an amazing tutor to my daughter who inquired about taking fashion design lessons. Tanya taught her the step-by-step approach to creating fashion figures and other design ideas, by using her knowledge and advanced fashion books. My daughter also came to Tanya with her wooden mannequin to ask some questions about how to approach fashion figure drawing and Tanya even took extra time to answer questions about fashion business and the fashion industry. She was always punctual and used the full allotted time. Would highly recommend her as a tutor!

Details
I generally charge per hour, ($50) but I am willing to work with the student if they need some flexible options. In this case, I can reduce my rate for a half hour lesson. ($30) I can also offer group rates, if I am tutoring more than 1 student during the same session.
