About Susan
Susan Book has always lived up to her name. From an early age she was entralled by the written word and explored her world through books and stories. She began a teaching career in Montessori education in 2002. Her work with early readers using spoken word, sensorial exploration of letters, and phonograms paired with real objects started her on a journey to teach all children to read. Over the years she has worked with children who have had learning disabilities and challenges that has kept them behind. Each child has spurred her to find the obstacles in their way and in turn a way to reach them in the way that they learn best. She has taught elementary students to grade 4 an explanded on her experience. She is proud to say that everychild that leaves her, leaves with a love of reading.
Susan holds and interdisciplinary degree in psycology, art, and montessori ecucation from Marylhurst University as well a primary 3-6 year old teaching degree from Montessori Northwest, and 6-9 year old elementary degree from North American Montessori Center. She has been teaching for 16 years.
