About Marianne

I have taught many students how to draw what they see, including other professional artists, photographers. I am personally interested in each student, and how to have them succeed. I draw from life regularly, and am considered a excellent draftsman, teaching students how to see and means to put it on paper.

I am a life-long (4o + years) full-time professional artist, a painter and sculptor, and I enjoy the experience of working with and getting to know my students. My husband, who died two years ago, was also a wonderful life-long artist, who had students from around the country, most of whom I still keep touch with. We are on FB as Preston Hornbuckle Fine Art where i post and blog regularly, and i post regularly on Instagram (mhornbuckleart).

I had others ask me to teach them.

I was an English teacher early on, am personable and clear, and have taught others drawing and watercolor off and on for the last 20 years, privately, one-on-one, or in small groups.

About the lesson

Each lesson is one hour, with a introduction to the principle involved, an experience in using the principle, and an explanation of the homework and assignment.

I have worked with adult beginning artists, and professional artists working in other media (photography, glass, etc.) I worked for 6 months with an artist who had had a stroke, to get him back to working in his studio - he had a show later that year!

Look at their work, and see if you like it, and get a sense of who they are.

I show regularly at the Santa Fe Society of Artists outdoor weekend shows in Santa Fe, New Mexico, have for the last twelve years. I love the diversity and span of ages in this group of artists and am actively involved in the organization.

My husband and I started the Pojoaque River Art Tour here almost 25 years ago.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Can I commit a evening or two weekly to completing the homework assignment (not hard to do, just takes time) so that I will be happy with my progress? Would I like to acquire the skill of drawing and be able to draw what i see? Drawing skills are needed for watercolor and oil painting.

Details

Cost for an hour lesson is $50 ($250 for the 5-week class) for one person. I provide materials to take home. Cost for two is $75.
