About Lauren
My best friend's mother taught art classes and camps in their home, which I fondly remember taking when I was little. When I was too old for camp, she offered me a summer job as an assistant art teacher. I had just as much fun working as I'd had in camp, and my appreciation for teaching only grew.
I have a BA in Studio Art and have taught kids' art classes and camps for years. Most recently I was an instructor at the Pacific Art League in Palo Alto, teaching children in elementary school. I am an artist myself, so I'm constantly working to improve my own process and I find teaching art to be incredibly rewarding and inspiring.

I do a few short creative exercises with the student to get comfortable and talk with them for a little to establish their goals and what they're interested in. At that point I am able to tailor the lesson to the individual student and the fun can begin!
I've worked with young artists aged 3-14.
I would tell them to look for someone who genuinely enjoys what they do and who finds joy in sharing that pleasure through teaching.
