About John
I am in Knoxville TN. I gives lessons 30-90 minutes and take students in East Tennessee only. I can travel within a 10 mile radius. Having been an educator, I can take the mystery out of drawing lifelike drawings. My style is realism but has changed in approach over the years. My portraits focus on facial features but I like leaving some details out so the finished work doesn't look like a photograph. Eyes, mouth, nose are most important, in that order.
I was asked by parents if I could teach their teens.
My drawing ability is God given. I've been drawing since 1988.

I teach all students in a public setting or FaceTime. I typically meet students at K Brew Coffee and Bagals in Knoxville, TN Saturdays, use Facetime, or students can email me a photo of their work for review. I have a masters degree in education and can skillfully encourage teenagers and adults as they enjoy learning to draw. I am practical rather than theoretical in my teaching style, with a twist of fun.
Teens 9th grade+, and adults.
The instructor must keep instructive language simple, and patient. Artistic growth requires time.
