About Mary

I can work with and teach almost any style of painting or drawing realistic to cartoon and with many diffrent sizes. If you want to paint something on a larg scale like a wall or on a small canvas I can teach that. I do not need any special equiptment or super fancy paint in order to teach how to draw or paint. I have a very flexible schedule and can work with changing things at a moments notice.

The thing that I love about art the most is that there is always something diffrent. Styles and methods are always changing. There are thousands of diffrent processes to make the same thing. It's not consistant yet at the same time the techniques that are always changing are hundreds of years old.

I got started teaching painting thanks to a local theatre group starting up Kids shows where the children did everything except direct to put on the play. As I have worked with them for a few years already they asked that I teach the children how to paint the sets and I have enjoyed doing so ever since.

I have gone to a trade school for scenic art but other than that I have been an instructor for children painting sets for a play at the local theatre group for the past 4 years.

About the lesson

I start off with introductions and asking what the student wants out of the lessons to get an understanding about their personality. Then I would start up a quick and simple warm up to get an understanding of their ability with drawing and painting. From there I would work with what I learned and how they work so the student can get the most out of the lessions.

I have worked with children 7 to 18 years old. Some that would refuse to paint because all they wanted to do was build to those that loved painting and did very well at it.

Look for someone who feels confortable and is flexable enough to help you with what you want to get out of the lessons. Look for someone who won't tear you or your art down, criticism diffrent from constructive criticism. There are thousands of diffrent styles for art and thousands of diffrent ways to acomplish it. Look for someone who can draw and paint in several difrent styles and is open flexible enough to change processes to be able to work best with you.

One particular moment that I enjoyed was when the local thearte was puting on Aladdin Jr. It was a kids show so I was called to teach the children how to paint. I showed them how to draft and draw buildings as well as how to paint it. it was the most complex thing they had ever done but they did incredible painting towering piles of gold and a glittering palace.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Question what the teachers can and cannot paint or draw. Ask what if any styles of art that they absolutely do not like, the lessons are supposed to be enjoyable and if they do not like a style they will not be able to teach you how to create those styles well.

Ask what kind of schedule the teacher has and if it is flexible to work with your schedule and you theirs.
