About Grace

I hope in the near future to have a different studio set up in which one-on-one painting lessons can begin again!
My name is Grace Schlea. I am an oil painter and portrait artist.
I specialize in traditional oil painting and teach oil painting in a 1.5 - 2 hour time frame.
I also work in watercolor and goauche for some of my portrait clients, but I do not teach these mediums professionally. PLEASE NOTE, I DO NOT TEACH LESSONS FOR ACRYLIC PAINT.
Depending on the lesson material and time length (sketching vs oil painting techniques) my lessons are $45- $125 /per private lesson.
I have found that if you are truly enamored with a subject, you can paint it!
I believe taking time to truly plan at least 50% of what the painting will look like” - helps spring board into a beautiful painting and an exciting process. The painting’s elements will be better executed and appear closer to “satisfaction” if the painter simply applies the pre-planning work.
I prefer to teach oil painting in 75 -90 minute time blocks.
Cash or Venmo transactions to be made the same day as the lessons. Cancelations must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
You cannot rush a masterpiece - or even a good learning experience. Art is a slow practice. I find this slowness especially fantastic. We live in a fast-paced world that forgets beautiful goals can still be reached at a slower pace.

Drawing lessons offered by Grace are tailored to each student's needs and level. Lessons can also be held online. Lessons are also available in Cleveland. The first lesson is free to define learning goals and methodology.
