About Roberta

I love teaching! My philosophy is, learn the rules, then break them! In most cases people just need permission to get to that next step. And that is a mission of mine in my art teaching career. The goal is to free you up in your art which will then translate to your life. I have taught students ages 4 thru adult for more than 20 years. We will move along at a pace that is comfortable for you or your child. I have taught at The Art Center of Highland Park, Evanston Art Center, as a Cadre for project Leap, Edgebrook Elementary Scool, Dewy Elementary School, Young Rembrandts and One River Schools in both Evanston and Chicago. I love teaching. I love seeing people be satisfied with what they create. I love working with children and adults to develop their critical eye.

While I was still working on my art degree at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, I came across a post on the job board looking for a teacher at The Art Center of Highland Park. It spoke to me. I called and was asked to bring in my portfolio and my teaching career began. It was slow at first, but as I gained experience and confidence my classes grew in population and frequency. I have always been happy that I took that leap.

I graduated from the American Academy of Art. I mentored with Vivian Nunley, Jane Lieber-Mays and Hazel Belvo.

About the lesson

The typical process is to take the student from where they are to where they want to go. And that is always fluid. Typically I will incorporate the fundamentals thru the projects or paintings we will be working on.

I have worked alot with children, teens and beginning adults.
