About Kayla

Creativity is a 7th sense. It like the 6th sense intuition allows you to see/ beyond the boundaries of the tangible world. Creativity pushed you to make the intangible, tangible. I enjoy seeing others conquer the feat of creating something that didn't think was possible from their own hands.
I started teaching in person a few moths ago before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Due to the virus I have since moved to online instruction which allows me to to teach from anywhere at anytime.
I have have been creating art for the last 15 years. I received a Bachelor's in Fine art in 2017 and I am currently pursuing my Masters in Fine Arts at Savannah College of Art and Design and will conclude in 2022. I specialize in portraiture but will often explore and experiment with different subjects, materials and techniques. Among the services I offer my business ventures include apparel and jewelry design as well. The most note worthy accomplishment as of late is that I became a published children's book Illustrator.

Initailly I would like to survey what information my student already knows and what they are looking for so that I can tailor lessons to fit their specific needs.
Ive worked with kids and teens just starting to dabble in art and adults looking to re-establish their practice and refresh their knowledge without the need for formal classes.
I would tell the students to look for an instructor who is willing to be flexiable. Your instructor should be willing and capable of meeting you at whatever level of ability you are currently. Also your instructor should also be able to adjust to the items you have access to and make the best of the expereince.
The most recent event I was very found of was The Black girl Artshow in Atlanta, GA. There I was able to network with artists that looked just like me. As a little brown girl growing up in a world where all the art and artists in the museum didn't look like me made me question my place in the art world. It was refreshing to be in a room of women who not only understood my experiences but my point of view.
