About Cari

I have been teaching ballroom, Latin, and swing dances since 2006. I only teach private lessons so that the student or the couple can learn the dances they want to learn, at their own pace, and in the privacy of my home. My time is flexible and because I don't have to pay floor fees I can keep my prices down. You don't have to sign up for any pre-paid packages--just pay as you go.

I love to give students the confidence to enjoy themselves on the dance floor. Dance is my joy and I'd love to share my joy of dance with you.

My husband and I started ballroom dance lessons in 2000 and we both got hooked and I knew I wanted to share my joy of dance.

During my first 6 years of private lessons, I knew I wanted to teach dance. In 2006 I 'took the plunge' and signed up for instructor training which continued for 8 years. I currently teach:

Ballroom: foxtrot, waltz, American tango, Viennese waltz and quickstep

Latin: bolero, chacha, rumba, merengue and samba

Swing: East coast swing and West Coast swing

Nightclub: salsa, nightclub two step

About the lesson

I recommend students take weekly lessons which will give them time to practice what they've learned without too much time to get into bad habits.  At the end of each 1-hour class, I give the students notes on what they learned.

If students are learning to dance to a specific song like the 'first dance' we will just focus on the dance that best fits your music choice. For those who just want to learn social dance, I find that taking a month's lessons on each dance will give you the foundation to learn enough to get you out on the floor and do several different dances.

I have taught students from teen-age to senior citizens. I've had many couples getting ready for their wedding, as well as father-daughter or mother-son dances. Most students have no background in ballroom dance, which is great because I don't have to break any bad habits!! For those with a background, there are always new steps to learn as well as brushing up on their technique.

Try a lesson or two and see how comfortable you feel with the instructor. I don't require any prepaid contracts and recommend you find an instructor that will let you pay as you go.

A single retired lady wanted to be able to dance on an upcoming cruise. Thru the weeks, we became good friends and she sent me a thank-you card for giving her the ability to feel confident and really enjoy her travels and let me know that she will be returning for more lessons.
