About Lindy

I teach Classical Ballet focusing on proper technique and placement. Our classes are both disciplined and fun! Everyone can be in our annual recital no matter what their age.

I love seeing dancers of all ages learn and grow in the art of ballet. I love seeing their joy when they master a step or a combination. I love seeing them put their costumes on for recital and blossoming into true dancers!

I started choreographing musicals and teaching friends to dance while still in high school and taught private classes for several years in my home studio. I began teaching for Kentucky Classic Arts in September 2018.

I begin studying in 1965 at the age of 10 and studied off and on for many years both at University and with the Louisville Ballet. I started with ballet and added jazz, tap, pointe and Russian. As a teenager I completed a summer term studying ballet and jazz at Ballet Arts in Carnegie Hall.

About the lesson

I find out what they are wanting to study and what their background is in dance, what types they have studied and how long they have studied. Everyone can have one free class to try out before having to register for classes.

I have worked with students from the ages of three in till well into their 60s. Some have had absolutely no training and others have had several years of training.

Look for someone who is supportive and encouraging. Look for someone who is disciplined and conducts the class that way without being harsh or negative. Find someone who will give you individual attention as much as possible and make corrections so that bad habits are not created.

We were finally able to have our recital in late August this year. It went off well and I was glad to have everybody dance in their costumes before they outgrew them! Though we had problems with the stage, the lighting, and some of the camera work, it was still a great success and very well received. A huge amount of fun for everyone!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Learn to articulate and understand your physical and emotional limitations, problems, abilities, and goals. If a lengthy consultation is needed that can be arranged, but I do not use class time for individual problem-solving.

Details

30 minute classes are $35 a month. 60 minute classes are $45 a month. 90 minute classes are $60 a month. Private classes are also available upon request.
