About Eileen

As I grew up in multiple different dance settings and dance genres, I was given opportunities to share my dance skill and knowledge with others

Eileen E. McDonnell graduated Summa Cum Laude with Honors from Mercyhurst University earning herself a Bachelors of Arts in Dance and Bachelors of Science in Biology. She is currently a fourth year medical student at Ross University School of Medicine but continues to share her knowledge and dance skills to others through teaching and choreography.

Eileen was born and raised in Albany, NY where she began her dance training in ballet, modern, and jazz at The Albany Berkshire Ballet under the direction of Madeline Cantarella Culpo. She continued her dance training at ABB performing in works such as Alice in Wonderland, Rockwell Suites, Hansel & Gretel and Aurora’s Wedding and has attended summer intensives such as The New York Summer School of the Arts and Boston Ballet. She also toured extensively throughout the Northeast with The Albany Berkshire Ballet Company in their annual production of The Nutcracker performing roles such as Kissy Doll, Marzipan, and Dew Drop.

Continuing her dance training throughout her collegiate years, Eileen joined the Mercyhurst Dancers and performed in works such as Pulcinella Suites, Suite Romantique, Arpino’s Viva Vivaldi with personal mentorship from Cameron Basden, and various student choreographed works. Eileen demonstrated adeptness in both classical and contemporary dance throughout her collegiate years. Along with performing classical ballet repertoire such as the Summer Fairy in Cinderella, Eileen was a member of the modern/contemporary company in-residence at Mercyhurst, SoMar Dance Works. Under the direction of Mark Santillano of Pilobolus and Solveig Santillano of MOMIX, Eileen performed with SoMar for three seasons. She also performed with the swing ensemble, City Style Swing, for multiple perfermances in Erie, PA.

Following college, Eileen was granted an apprenticeship with Columbus Dance Theatre and dance with the company for one season. She hired as a principal dancer with the Albany Berkshire Ballet dancing roles such as Sugar Plum Fairy and Snow Queen in the Nutcracker. During this time, Eileen also taught at various studios such as the School of Albany Berkshire Ballet, Stardom Dance Studio, and Troy Dance Factory in NY. She taught all forms of dance from ballet to modern, contemporary, hip hop, and tap.

About the lesson

With small personal sessions, I think it is important to solidify what my dancers would like to get out of out time together whether that be learning choreography for a wedding or just simply getting a good workout! I get to know my dancers through our process and I'm always open to music ideas or recommendations for something that might make it more fun for you.

I have worked with students of all ages from 3-4 year olds to adults.
