About Archana
Hello!
I am so excited to be teaching dance in the Pittsburgh area. I have been dancing since the age of 3 and possibly earlier than that. Dancing is who I am and it is what gives my soul peace and freedom.
I was on dance teams in college and then I moved to NYC and taught and performed dance for several years. I was trained in Indian Classical Dance, Hip Hop, and Kizomba, but I am quite fluent in many other types of dance as well.
I was on a few commercials for MTV's America's Next Best Dance Crew and I made it to the top 25 dancers in NYC for the first season of So You Think You Can Dance.
I would love to bring you into the gloriously sexy and exciting world of dance. If anything can excite you about living life, it is dance.

I believe that dance has the power to transform people. The reason I say that is because it can bring out your true spirit. It can make people feel more confident, sexy, and generally happy in their everyday lives. In a way, it makes you feel like a kid again!
It has done so for me and has truly made my life a blessed one. I love to pass that gift along to others and watch them transform before my very eyes!

The first thing I do when working with a new student is I have a conversation with them about what they would like to get out of my classes. Then, I assess their skill level and plan each class according to the rate at which they pick up skills and choreography.
If a student needs training by a certain deadline (ie. a wedding dance), I will have an outline of exactly what we will cover for each class and will create a practice schedule for the student if they desire one.
If a student wants general help with dancing, I will teach them lessons and even take them dancing to practice what we learned!
I do believe that teaching and learning needs to be differentiated and so I like to develop a personal relationship with each of my clients to make sure that they are getting everything they can out of this experience.
Dancing has changed my life and I want it to do the same for each of my students!

Details
I am currently only offering a group dance fitness class on Saturdays. It is a hip hop class and no experience is required. It's a fantastic way to learn how to dance and also get a pretty awesome work out in as well. Please see the details below:
