About Lydia
After earning my BSc in Biological Science from The University of Southampton, I spent 6 years working within the Biotech industry. I began my professional career working in medical product testing where I accrued practical laboratory experience before taking on a management position for a large team of technicians. In my final year of industry, I transitioned to work in a technical capacity focusing instead on providing data analysis support to enhance product yields and drive process improvements. This role strengthened my ability to present complex scientific concepts clearly and concisely. After six rewarding years, it became clear to me that the challenges I most frequently sought out were those that allowed me to share my expertise, train new team members and build their confidence. It was this realisation that ultimately led me to transition into private tuition so that I could focus on my passion, supporting learners and make a meaningful difference in their understanding of science

Hello! I'm Lydia, let me tell you a little about my approach to teaching the sciences. If you're anything like me, you're probably finding exams slightly stressful. It's overwhelming at times. I believe studying doesn't have to be this way. My lessons are tailored to minimise sources of stress, because this provides clarity. The secret ingredient to success! I will regularly use targeted questioning to test the bounds of your existing knowledge and develop those critical thinking skills. Together we will have lots of in-depth discussions, these are essential in triggering those key associations that help content to stick. Along the way (and only when you're ready), we will break down real exam questions/mark schemes until you feel completely confident where marks come from and how you can harness your strengths to gain as many as possible. I use lots of visuals including diagrams, illustrations, and videos to bring the subject to life. I would advise 1-hour a week of tuition, but closer to exam season I can of course offer you more support. The success of my students is something I take huge pride in, for this reason I only take on new students when I feel I have full capacity to give them the tailored support and attention they need. I am qualified to BSc Degree Level in Biological Science. I hold a Level 2 Neurodiversity Awareness Qualification. I have 6 years industry experience in the Biotechnology sector I run my own freelance tutoring business in the Oxfordshire area with my lessons extending nationally to students online (please message if you would like to know more about this).
