About Claire
Hi there! My name is Claire Williamson and I'm a computer engineering major at Union College in Schenectady, NY. During my sophomore year, when I was taking Data Structures, I was asked by my professor if he could recommend me to be a tutor at the Computer Science Helpdesk. The CS Helpdesk is a service free to provide homework help, test prep, and other resources to beginner to intermediate level computer science students. I'm now a senior at Union and I'm the CS Helpdesk coordinator. I've loved tutoring the past two years and have been told I should look into a career as a professor by several students I've worked with.
Recently my world was completely shaken up after I was told I had to leave campus and continue classes virtually from home. With this, tutoring through the CS Helpdesk at Union has been cancelled for the forseeable future. I'm looking to get back into tutoring ASAP, so please reach out if you think we would be a good fit!
My favorite feeling when I'm coding is after I've been stuck on something and finally figure it out. Seeing a result come up on my computer that is exactly what I'm hoping for it to be gives such a feeling of relief and accomplishment. When I work with students, I try to get them to reach that same sense of relief and accomplishment. The moments they do are the moments I most enjoy, because I know exactly what they're feeling and I often feel it too.
