About Robert
I started teaching at the age of 50 after many years working in business including 2 years working as a chemist in a defense plant I consider this a great resouce since it allows me to present a real world perspective.
I have a bachelors degree from the Univerity of Pennsylvania and a teaching certificate from the state of Connecticut. I have taught all levels of high school chemistry for 20 years at Jonathan Law High School in Milford, CT. I have also taught astronomy for 10 years and freshman physical chemistry there. In addition I introduced a course in pharmaceutical chemistry which included organic chemistry.

My approach is to create a profession rapport with each individual student and to make them feel comfortalble working with me. This allows me to address the individual needs of the student based on their background and goals. It is imperative to me to put myself in the place from where the student perceives the material being taught.
I have students in level 1 and 2, and AP. At my school I worked with many diverse students from many backgrounds including immigants from Germany to South Korea to Nigeria.
It is important to work with a teacher who already has experience teaching students of your age group. A teacher must be able to make you feel comfortable and not judgemental, someone you can be open with. Also the learning experience of chemistry can be challenging and the teacher must appreciate that.
I worked as an advisor for the junior class including fashion shows and junior proms.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Above all, does the teacher have a reputation for being approachable and competent? Does the teacher project a credible abiltiy to deliver what is necessay to adress your goals in chemistry which can cover a wide range? Does the teacher have an ability to offer something to each student?
