About Aiden

Attention Parents and Undergraduates!

Are you or your child struggling with chemistry? Is the distance learning model failing to establish a deeper understanding of the material?

Fear not! My name is Aiden Farragher-Gnadt, but you can call me Mr. F if you'd like. I am a graduate teaching assistant at SUNY Buffalo, and I am qualified and prepared to enhance your chemistry experience. If you want more than an apathetic lecture, If you want to walk away with a higher level of comprehension, I am the tutor you have been looking for.

I enjoy helping others, plain and simple. Teaching is a passion of mine because I know there are so many people out there that can be successful with just a little boost. I feel honored and humbled to be that boost for my students.

I started tutoring in undergrad, then took on a graduate teaching assistantship. I also tutor my cousin.

I have a M.S. in chemistry from SUNY Buffalo. I taught a recitation and a lab for many years, and have experience in General Chemistry 1 and 2 as well as Organic Chemistry 1 and 2. I was also a CSTEP tutor for organic chemistry throughout my junior and senior year of college.

About the lesson

I usually target what my student is struggling with, while diagnosing potential foundational gaps that may have caused issues with current material. I do not perform homework assignments for my students, but I will ask critical thinking questions that will lead them in the right direction. It has been my experience that this method is most effective for establishing a lasting and reproducible "chemistry intuition"

I have worked with highschoolers and undergrads. I have worked with straight A students and I have brought students back from the brink of failing. I am adept at discerning where my student is at, and adjusting my tutoring accordingly.

Do not hire someone who will just do your work for you. That will rob you of the experience. Look for a qualified professional who can give you permanent skills that you will utilize for the rest of your life.

I call it the "lightbulb moment". My student's eyes light up, and I can tell that they really understood what I just said. It is the most rewarding part of teaching.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Sometimes the simplest reason is that a problem has been "overworked". Grab a fresh piece of paper and start over. You'd be surprised how often that can solve the issue. Otherwise, try to identify what it is about the assignment that is causing you to struggle. Attacking the root of the problem is the most effective way to move forward.

I typically charge $30 an hour. If the session has multiple participants, I will charge an additional $10 per person
