About Etienne

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cornell University in 2013 with a BS in Biological Sciences. I am a medical student at Stony Brook University School of Medicine expecting to graduate in 2020 although I am currently on a leave of absence for 6 months which is why I am in the Boston area.

During my college years, I have worked as a tutor in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, as well as a Teacher's Assistant in Algebra. After graduation, I volunteered for 6 weeks as an English teacher for grades 9th to 12th in Ecuador.

Over the years, I have experienced all sorts of responsibilities and have been exposed to all types of teaching from one-on-one set ups to small groups or even entire classes. This has allowed me to perfect my teaching style and become a more efficient tutor.

The goals I set myself is for my students to not only master the material they struggle with but also to teach them learning techniques that can be used in other subjects and allow them to become independent and successful students in the long run.

As with medicine, I enjoy helping people and making a lasting difference in people's lives. Tutoring gives me the opportunity to make an life-long impact on the younger generations by teaching them how to become a successful and efficient student.

Everyone has struggled with school in some ways. Personally, it's not until my senior year of highschool that a friend of mine helped me "unlock" the right techniques and attitude it takes to become successful in academia and for that, I will be forever grateful to him. Therefore, I empathize with students who want to do better but struggle to do it as that used to be me.

I've gotten a lot of satisfaction and found it extremely rewarding to give that push to students because it is absolutely incredible and inspiring to see what they can accomplish once they get started on the right path.
