About Jeanne
I have been teaching cello lessons to students of all ages and experience from age 5 and up since 1986 - including adults and college students. My philosophy for teaching grade school age children is based on the popular Suzuki method - a wonderful starting point as it makes performing a natural activity; in turn boosts confidence, memorization skills, and enhances all other learning skills. I have veered from the original Suzuki method in that I introduce music reading skills at an early age which allows young performers to participate in school orchestra right away.
I enjoy communicating with people of all ages, and sharing the gift of music. Whether it's a 5-year-old who wants to learn how to play Twinkle, someone preparing for a pre-college or conservatory audition, or an adult looking to fulfill a long-standing wish to play the cello. It's never too early or too late to start!

My teaching rate is 65 for a 1-hour lesson, 50 for a 45-minute lesson, and 35 for a 30-minute lesson. Currently, I am mostly teaching online lessons. I have a studio in Warwick NY where I can teach in-person lessons - we are separated by a clear plastic curtain, and we both will need to wear a mask for the entire lesson - this set up was approved by 2 medical professionals. Regularly scheduled, weekly lessons are recommended to promote steady progress and continuity of learning. I encourage students to perform in recitals and participate in their local festival events. My teaching techniques prepare students for playing in their school orchestra, local and regional festivals, competitive auditions, and beyond to Conservatory-level preparation.
