About Jacob

I just recently graduated this fall from the University of Minnesota of 2020 and have a strong base of knowledge in mathematics, statistics, and the sciences. I have a B.S. in Statistics, am a pre-med student, and do exceptionally well in feeling comfortable and confident taking standardized tests.

In addition to this, I have an extremely flexible schedule and a background on working one on one with students ages 14 and up both personally through my years as a camp counselor and professionally as a in-person tutor during college.

As I am also studying and preparing for a test, the MCAT, tutoring gives me the opportunity to stay sharp in my studies while also helping others.

I hold that a key element in learning is collaboration with others, and giving students the tools they need to grow independently is highly satisfying work.

I have a B.S. in Statistics from the University of Minnesota where I also took college level pre-med courses including Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry.

I briefly tutored lower level student in statistics while there, as well as I have years of hands-on experience working with kids aged 14-18 from working at an overnight summer camp for many years.

I also have plenty of experience with standardized testing as I took a large number of AP tests in Highschool as well as scored a 33 on the ACT.

About the lesson

For the subjects I am proficient in: Statistics, Science, and Mathematics, topics are usually branched from core concepts. Understanding where a student is initially is key in tackling topics they may be struggling in. From there, developing a strong familiarity with the basics and gradually building into advanced topics is the logical path forward.

Details

I am flexible with pricing and feel that the price should reflect the effort put out on my part. Generally, my rate is $35 per hour with the first meeting which is largely focused on getting a sense of what areas need work being a flat $30.
